"Why do I get adjusted?" Part 3
The third “T” of stress is Toxins
Let’s discuss chemical stress or toxins. This type of stress comes from what we put in and on our bodies.
Chemical stressors can come from our diet but also from cleaning and beauty products, medications we take, the water we drink, and even the air, we breathe. I am probably not the first to recommend a diet with minimal to no processed foods, but I may be the first to talk to you about how toxic most household cleaning and beauty products are.
One of the most significant stressors to our system is artificial fragrances found in cleaning products, candles, laundry detergent, and hair care products. Artificial fragrances disrupt our endocrine system and can send our hormones out of whack.
Another major assault on our nervous systems comes from the food we eat. Focusing on whole foods, including well-sourced protein, can significantly affect how our bodies function. Processed foods, particularly those with vegetable and seed oils, can cause significant inflammation in the body.
While some physical stressors are in our control and can be avoided, many are just part of life. Regular chiropractic adjustments can help your body better adapt to chemical stress.
